The whip marks are very well done. They are as good as any Arcimboldo produced. Did you use Photoshop? Did they take a long time?
Photoshop is not the only picture manager software...

What's wrong with the stache? While the may have been regulations about the length of hair & beard, the legions had no rule against facial hair per se. The clean shaven look was popular in Ceasar's time, but, with a hundred years or so, beards & mustaches became more popular. Moreover, after the begining of the Common Era, the legions began to include increasing numbers of non-Italians. Many of these soldiers came from cultures where a real man had facial hair.
Here are some examples from Trajan's column. built in 113 CE. Some of the details have been lost due to erosion, but many of the soldiers clearly have facial hair. And, while Trajan is always shown as clean shaven, his successor, Hadrian, was bearded.
