Let's suggest a modern non-lethal punishment including the sexual abuse with cornu and nudity. Which persons you think should not be in the audience? Looking at the leading crucifixion of Jesus, I long-time thought, only the two Marias were there, but it seems, that most of the apostles, all his other followers and the above metionend Marias were there. His step-father seemed not to be there, since we believe he was dead already. So thinking of it, the idea of the Romans was really to shame him. Let us confirm with the king James bible:

Mathew 27, 55 "And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children."

Luke 23, 49 "And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things."

Remember those people will see you nude, with erection (if you are a male) and penetrated in your asshole by a not that small cornu
and in modern times, a penis shaped dildo.

I am a little bit of an orphant so i can not take part, I however have no problema, when no one of the above mentioned groups are present.

How could I forgot, yes that might be a problem to.... I am anyway confused now. For example, I have no kids, so I do not know if I would love that they observe me on the cross. I had not so much problems with my father, he was nude sometimes and I saw a porn mnovie with my parents.... well...
 
I think it would partly depend on the attitude of the audience member.

If there was a female co-worker who was very shocked and horrified and sad to see me that's one thing.

It's different if a female co-worker comes by to laugh and mock and taunt me about being naked & helpless, and remind me I'm headed for a very prolonged ordeal of suffering.

Yes it is the the actual situation, I guess if the civilisation steps forward it is no problem with all groups, at the Roman times, it was virtually all....

I think the most embarrassing scenario would be having my parents there taunting me about being naked & helpless, and reminding me I'm headed for a very prolonged ordeal of suffering and that I deserve it.

At first I'm tempted to say that it's tough to imagine that kind of situation. But you're right, taunting from a close relative would be pretty much the worst.

On further consideration maybe it's not so far fetched. Sometimes there are revolutions built around an ideology, like let's use communism as an example. Some people become extremely fervent communists, while other resist the new ideology. If a resistor is caught and condemned to be punished maybe it's not so far fetched that a few close relatives, like parents or kids, will denounce the condemned loudly and fervently, to show their fealty to the new set of ideas and deflect any suspicions of disloyalty away from themselves. Communists will often encourage young people to denounce their parents and turn them in for any thought crimes.

She has always wondered what you look like naked, and she is fascinated by the way your muscles flex as you move on the cross. She wants to mop your brow, but she also loves seeing you in this situation. Through the tears her eyes are taking note of every detail. Is it shameful for you to be watched by colleagues like this? Ohhh yes!

Sisters and brothers? Parents? Shameful and horrifying for everyone. But here is you sister watching you writhe on the cross, and she has come with her best friend, you know, the one you have always liked but never dated. How shameful is it for you that she should see you like this? How likely is it that you may respond involuntarily to her gaze, you body betraying your interest in her, and the thrill of her seeing you like this? Now that would surely be shameful.

The professional distance might solve that problem. I had two similar experiences with a comilitone (that is one who studied with you) amd one student of mine when I was high school teacher. The second studied later medicine and was the person who circumsized me, so realy close to a torture situation.

In the first case it happend, to make a long story short, that we came to a swimming place, which was normaly used by nudist and while bein alone there I just removed my spedo pointing that fact out while she was a little surprised.

Agreed, but fates may decide otherwise!
Parents will say : "We always told you, you would end up on a cross some day!"
Grand parents will say to parents : "We always told you, he/she would end up on a cross some day, with your stupid education methods!"
Wife will say : "I want a divorce!"
Brothers and/or sisters will say nothing and enjoy the show (evil as they always used to be!).
Uncles will shake their head in incomprehension!
Aunts will find the show exciting (particularly when the aunt is an attractive forty-something spinster and it is a male cousin crucified).
Colleagues/friends, that's a different case. It would then be better that there are other colleagues in the line of crucified too (that applies even to other family memebers, so, you are not alone to be exposed).
 
i feel like men would be more likely to see me as something to be protected or comforted, while women would see me as more an object of pity, so it's probably way worse to have your mother or daughter than it is to have your father or son.
 
I thought about this question... and I probably agree that in the modern world there is the Internet... and your crucifixion will undoubtedly be seen by everyone who wants to see it... be it fatal or non-fatal... it is difficult to say what will be worse, that you survive or that you die, since in the case of death only pure shame will remain of you, in front of everyone... and if you survive, then you will have to come to terms with what happened...

That is why I prefer you survive your crucifixion. You then live the rest of your live knowing that I saw your nude body, your vagina, even your asshole opened by a big cornu. That you might don't care since I am a stranger, but if not?
