We're going to post some wonderful work that Ascanio's been doing.
It began with our discovering a shared delight in mediaeval love-lyrics,
especially those of the Provencal troubadours
(Ascanio's home in NW Italy was once part of the Kingdom of Provence,
the local dialect is descended from Provencal).
The theme is the adventure of Eulalia de Dia in the Secret Garden-
nothing is known of Beatrice, Contessa de Dia, except that she was a troubaritz,
a female troubadour, who composed some delicious love-lyrics.
The Secret Garden is the 'hortus conclusus' in the biblical Song of Songs
('a garden enclosed is my beloved'),
from which the troubadours and other mediaeval lyricists drew inspiration.
