Wolfie1389
Executioner
Upon an Earth, somewhere within the multi-verse... a thread of possibilities drifted onward and outward minding it's own unique business.
"Charly?" A young woman nudged the shoulder of her roomy.
"Ya, what's up?" Another woman replied, as she slowly and methodically brushed out her long dark hair.
"You really going to go through with it?" The other woman asked, a bit of concern in her voice. Her large hazel eyes trying to peer into the often stormy grays of her best friend.
Char, a woman in her early twenties, sighed, put down her brush and looked over at the eyes which were looking at her. "Tess, it's going to be okay. The surgery is simple and the government kickback is nice."
Tess, glanced away and down at the ground, her hands fidgeting a bit. "But what if you end up, you know..." Tess swallowed, "What if you're name comes up in the bolting lottery?"
Char took her friends hands and pulled them towards her, embracing the other woman. "If I get bolted, at least I'll know that I've lived my life to the depth and fullness that I possibly can. And that I've had the best friend and lover a girl could ever have."
Tess sighed again letting her head sink against Char's soft shoulder. "I guess I just don't know what I would do if you could be hear with me. That thought scares me more than anything."
"The odds that I'd get picked in the lottery are really small. My odds are better than most because I've had top grades throughout all my educational cycles. I'm not worrying about it. And neither should you." Char stood up abruptly, pulling Tess in hand and fell onto the bed, yanking Tess along with her.
"Char! It's the middle of morning. We can't fool around now. There are too many other students out in the hallways, they might hear."
Tess found Char's lips on hers, "So what." Char mumbled through a kiss as both girls began to giggle, their hands beginning to roam.
... Inside... Char's mind was elsewhere. Musing a secret fantasy that she dare not let Tess know about. At least not yet.
... A few hours later...
Char and Tess sat on the bed, the main InterG-Vidscreen babbling the days news in front of them. An advertisement began to play.

Tess, squeezed Char's hand and held turned it over, kissing the wrist. "I can't believe you'll have half inch steel inlaid holes in your wrists and feet by the end of the day Monday."
Char looked down at her own wrist. Secretly grinning from ear to ear inside. "I think it's going to be really cool!"
Tess sighed, and both girls began to get going about their afternoon activities at Union Wood Corporate University.
