One of the idea is to humiliate the victim, as it might be shameful for some males to be exposed nude. There is rumors about a cornu, which would be an anal penetration, the Romans consider that as loosing its malehood, you may interpret that as gay. In today's society that makes not much sense, since it is not voluntarely! You are as example not gay because you have to make a proctoscopy! Also the "gay thing" does not make sense to me, one migth in contrary argue, and I do, that one is not a male, and should not have sex with a female, if one does not know the other side, eg was penetrated analy by a man. I made some questions around the males here, they are
up to 70% willingly able to be penetrated on cross, most have to be considered as heterosexual.

I neither think that sexual orientation matters. A crux kink is 'something different', and not necessarily correlating to an orientation (although it could be, of course). It is rather,, like @dfg42 puts it :

I don't, but given a choice I rather see a woman crucified then a man.

No, because by that reasoning every masochist or submissive would be gay or bi. And it's clearly not the case. For a heterosexual masochist it could even be extra stimulating to be forced into a homosexual encounter without actually being gay. Masochists and submissives (both male and female) don't really enjoy being very comfortable. At least not all the time.
 
We must all understand that divide and conqu(e)er (divide et impera) is the method of governing today and was before. So by dividing the people in the group gay/lesbian versus heterosexual, they used that method. Naturally this division makes no sense, because we all have our distinct sexual tastes, yes some males may like other males, but not all but some; some males, like me, like the sporty, blond type female, like Doris Day, others black skined, or black haired women, some may even like the bbw type, we are just all different. I once said to a homosexual man, why not dividing the people in those who prefer spaghetti napoli over those who prefer spaghetti bolognaise, the sspaghetti carbonara lovers are hated and prosecuted.... I mean it depends on the definition. If you declare a "gay" someone who loves males and has a certain lifestyle that is todays thinking that situation could humiliate both gays and heterosexuals. But is he not gay, if he would not enjoy the situation, eg he must show an erection, while being penetrated! And btw. it is even more complicated, for example I consider myself as heterosexual, but I can and be sometimes fucked by males. Gay for me is a kind of living and the believe that two males can become a pair like a male and a female.

Some details, I asked different "bottoms" if they get an erection while being penetrated. I normally masturbate, so it does not count. Generally it is believed, that it depends.
