Yes, but did she know she would be tied to a frame and then...
In reality, yes she did. I sent the script to White Rose (Dr. Squalus), who interprets it into Russian, explains the story concept and the details to the model so that the model will know how to play the character (for example, a schoolgirl would be terrified and scream a lot, a warrior would not), and then there is a read-through on the day of filming. Once filming starts, there are breaks to review the scene action, how the two actors should interact (although there is still substantial improv), then film the scene, then another break. Rinse and repeat until all of the scenes are filmed. Sometimes a time-out is called in the middle of a scene to reset the cameras or to clarify a point in the script. I've never seen an actor in my films call a time-out because the action is too hard. I did see Adri tough one scene out to the end because she was in pain from her arm going numb, but she was a good actor and waited until the scene was over. It couldn't have been too painful, though, because she wants to do another film in the same position.
This was a bit of a screen test for Wahlberg. I did not ask for much character development; she could just lay there and let things happen and take home her money. But I told her that if she does a good job, I will cast her again. I did not need to tell her that a good actor - like her - will show subtle changes as the character develops more fear or less fear, more fatigue or less fatigue, more arousal or less arousal. In my opinion, there is a "sweet spot" in emoting a character than I've only seen with Adri and Wahlberg, and occasionally with Cry. Cry has done enough of my films to know how I want a character to be played, but it took a few films to get there. She wanted to play it like any other bondage film; which is, to overact. She figured it out when I provided my feedback and she has been good every since. Adri and Wahlberg know it by instinct. Each actor has a special quality to the acting and how they communicate with the viewers. With Cry, she uses her body to communicate her character. With Adri, it is her facial expressions. With Wahlberg, it is her eyes. In the screencaps I posted, it would be more obvious how Wahlberg acts if the caps were in order, but you get the idea.
I am thinking the next script with Wahlberg will either be her as a Thracian warrior taken by a Greek noblewoman to be a gladiator, or as a "volun-told" demonstration specimen for Adri the Squalus Labs Intern's first TED Talk presentation. As you can see, Wahlberg would need to be able to play each character differently. One is resistant, one is reluctant.
Edit to add: Looking at the footage closer, it appears to me that Wahlberg got a bit aroused during her exam. I mention this only to say that she is a good actor because unless you were looking closer, you'd never know what she was really thinking.
