Sadly, this makes little difference.
Bin Laden has not been important since he ran from Afghanistan, except symbolically. I wonder if the symbol of a bleak dull man hiding from his enemies will be less important than that of a "martyr" who died in battle.
That symbol has been, and sadly will continue to be, a focus for the kind of misfit who goes onto a school or college campus and shoots people. Bin Laden and his miserable organization have given that kind of fool the pretence of a "cause", a "jihad".
It is encouraging, though, that the security forces gathered the information to track him down. It confirms the impression that they are generally effective in preventing the attacks of these pathetic incompetents, at least in the West, although still in the East and Africa they send other people's children to blow themselves up along with people trying to live ordinary lives.
And will continue to do so. There will probably be a spike in their attacks now. I hope the services manage to fend off the fools in London and the cities where my family live.
What a pointless, loathesome nastiness Bin Laden represented.
Sadly his death is as worthless as his life.
But let us treasure, as an image of his holy war, the memory of that buffoon on a plane over the Atlantic who tried and failed to blow up his underpants (a graduate of the engineering course at University College London; oh dear, oh dear).

Had trouble finding her picture last night.

For newbies, Taryn was a crux enthusiast, and was at a meeting in Windows On the World, the restaurant on the 106th and 107th floors of the World Trade Center.

Nobody in there got out alive. If you walk about in lower Manhattan, you're probably breathing their emulsified, incinerated remains. I did, six weeks after 9/11. My eyes burned for four days.

I think a cried out Taryn's ashes. And 2,997 other people's ashes.

Someone told me the other day that Bin Laden's won't bring back the victums of 911,and told her very strongly "No but atleast their sole's can now be at rest!! I was in the shower when Jessica ran in the bathroom and told me that we got the son of a bitch,well silly me I ran into the living room and saw on TV that we did indeed get that basterd,jess and I jumped up and down and were very happy with the news...then I noticed that I was stark naked but did that stop us?,no jess just took off her clothes and we made love on the sofa.I'm just glad to know that the last thing that went throw Bin Laden,s head was an american bullet..."BURN IN HELL YOU CAMEL HUMPING BASTARD!"

While it is gratifying that the coward has finally met his maker (whom I doubt will agree with bin Laden's view of the world) and I am grateful to the brave men and women who made this possible I fear that this will change nothing.

We Americans (and westerners in general) have the attention span of a gnat and defeating Islamic fundamentalist terrorism will take more time, treasure and blood than we are willing to commit at this time.

Terroism for political sakes goes way back and Islamic terrorist go back almost to the founding of the religion and its Assassin sect. In those days they struck at rulers (since rulers really didn't give a shit at how many subjects you offed) and those were pretty hard targets. The Mongols straighten their asses out when the Assassins made the mistake of thinking of the Mongols as another group of effete Arab rulers and struck at them. The solution? The Mongols wiped out virtually every Assassin stronghold and village in what is now Iraq, women and children included, and then said to the Syrian arm of the sect, 'Have we made our point?' The Syrians said yes.

You do not eliminate an Al Queda by killing its leaders or even its foot soldiers you kill it by killing them their families their relatives their supporters everyone connected with them. You have to be willing to wade in their blood until they realize that the course they are set on is not change but their own imminent doom.

Taryn love the coward who sent others to do what he was not willing to do himself has been killed. You will not see him where you reside.

I'm just sorry we didn't stick his skinny ass up on a cross to suffer for days. It might in some small way it might have make up for the suffering he has caused. Eternal suffering will not be long enough.
