Doc Fives
Guard
(This is a series that I've been wanting to do for a while now, chronicling some of my activities in Crux Winds under the guise of Centurion Marcus Aeneas. For OOC context everyone pictured in these screen captures gives full consent for what happened during the roleplay. Hope you all enjoy!)

My dear brother Cassius,
I hope you and your family are well. Word has reached me on the Forgotten Isle about the pestilence that seems to be rooting through the country side and affecting the farms. I received a visit from our old friend Gaius Felix (you remember him, our childhood playmate? Seems that he landed a post assisting the local governor as a military advisor.) and he mentioned that food prices have risen by as much as a denarii for modius of grain. I know you have always had good business sense and stayed ahead of everything, but I still worry about you little brother.
Life goes on and on for me. I was asked to lead another execution detail today, this time it was a runaway slave who had murdered her dominus in cold blood. The old bastard apparently won't be missed by either his workers or the rest of the free men on the island, word was he was a stingy mean old man. Makes me think of old man Cornelius who used to scream at us when we played in the streets as children. Anyway the murderer was sentenced to be crucified as is custom, though the other slaves managed to escape execution due to the intervention of the governor. He said it was due to a lack of recent slave imports to the island but I think he knew it was only a matter of time before someone killed him and wanted to spare them while still setting an example. Or it might have been this little pretty redhead from Gaul...only Jupiter truly knows.
As is custom I let my men have at her the night before, going by rank and experience. I lost count because I went to bed at a respectable hour but there must have been at least twenty men who had took her before I had my way with her. She made an interesting proposition before I could take her, offering herself to me willingly if I would end her quickly. Of course we both knew that I had all the power but my dear brother, I was intrigued to see what she could do. So I gave her my word as a Roman and a soldier. I must tell you Cassius, I have never had such jealousy for you and Julia's relationship up until now. While it is always nice to take what you want when you want, there is something to be said about two willing partners going at it. Out of all the many women I have had on this isle this one was by far the most interesting. After I had my fill of her we proceeded to the next step. She was expecting a quick death with the sword but I had to still keep up appearances. As such I had her receive forty lashes from the scourge before taking her to the cross instead of my usual custom of giving a female victim thirty lashes. Oh she complained about the pain but I assured her that I would still honor our deal. She managed to make it up the hill without too much trouble and was nailed to the cross, again with a great deal of complaining and begging me to honor my word. For the sake of keeping up appearances I waited approximately three hours before I broke her legs as is our custom. At first she did not understand why but with some patient explanation (dear brother, some times I swear I am the most patient man in the whole Empire) she understood and was dead within a quarter of an hour. As you have requested I have included some rough sketches of the condemned on the cross with my letter.
Well dear brother, life goes on. Give my regards to Julia and the others.
Your brother,
Marcus
