In order to satisfy the requirements of my payment processor I had to impose some restrictions on what the user inputs but it can infer a lot just by the selections in the story settings (i.e. tone: violent). That being said, no bestiality/zoophilia, pedo stuff, or unconsensual stuff drugging/rape/etc. Drugging and rape fantasy stuff is allowed so long as it's consensual.

Got it. So probably not quite suitable for what I like to write, but perhaps useful to create the starting point of a story.

If you don’t mind a paid service, also consider Open Router. It’s a hub that provides an access to many different models, some of which are uncensored and trained specifically to write stories.

Unlike the case with image generation, LLM clients don’t require good hardware when using a remote service like Open Router. So, you can use applications like LM Studio, or SillyTavern to write stories or roleplaying using models they provide.

If you are really serious about it, also consider Novel Crafter, which provides an advanced UI for writing novels while using uncensored models from Open Router.

I don't mind running an LLM on my local machine, and I have decent enough hardware to make it not too painful. But there are about a zillion LLMs to choose from. Any advice on ones you have had good success with? Especially for BDSM type stories?

I'm afraid I can't provide a definitive answer, with new models popping up daily. It'd probably be better to check a thread like this to see what models are hot nowadays.

From what I've tried personally, Mistral Nemo finetunes like Inferior, Rocinante, or Celeste all gave me a good balance between quality and VRAM requirements.

For larger models, I was impressed by sao10k/l3.1-70b-hanami-x1 when I tested it yesterday. Maybe it was a bit too horny for my taste, but it seemed the model was specifically trained for writing explicit stories.
