I'm curious about your preferences regarding the dress of crucifixion victims during their entire ordeal. I've seen a variety of options in various artworks, and I was wondering which one is the most popular.
Tree prefers no loincloth. After all, we are killing the criminal. #3 and 4 will make do- if you insist!!!I'm curious about your preferences regarding the dress of crucifixion victims during their entire ordeal. I agree with Mr. Tree, I should be stripped naked at my whipping and remain naked.Tree prefers no loincloth. After all, we are killing the criminal. #3 and 4 will make do- if you insist!!!
All options but the last one.I'm curious about your preferences regarding the dress of crucifixion victims during their entire ordeal. I've seen a variety of options in various artworks, and I was wondering which one is the most popular.
Tree has to disagree with this. Even if a society accepted nudity, even if someone likes to hang out at say 'nude beaches', this is not a free acceptance of their nudity. The person has been sentenced to be executed by crucifixion. Someone who accepts being nude will (or should) object to being nailed to and raised on a cross naked for all to see. Again, this is not a fashion show but their execution!I think it depends on the kind of crucifixion. In our modern times with a complete natural attitude towards nudity, we would use loincloths since nothing is gained by the nudity of the victims. In more conservatice, victorian style morals, societies, the females would be shown naked, while the males need not to be naked and would wear loincloths. In a female dominated society, the males would be crucified naked, and the females would wear loincloth, but are otherwise to be nude in public.
The only surprise was how long it took for you to respond.I doubt my answer comes as any kind off a surprise to anyone?
The point is that the loincloth is not for the crucified it is for the audience, so she has not to see nude people crucified. That by the way is also the reason that the many depictions of the Golgatha event shows dressed people and not the nude ones. Yes it is to punish the crucified, but why should one punish all the viewers of the spectacle, when there is no gain in putting the crucified nude on the cross?Tree has to disagree with this. For what it’s worth, this sounds closer to option 3I voted for the first option. While I prefer the first option, I can imagine actually having to wear one until I get to the cross, being forced to the ground while having it ripped off, cut into a smaller narrow piece, and tied around my neck forcing it into my mouth for the duration of my execution. Tying my own underwear into my mouth as a bit gag seems extremely insulting, but I am sure someone will love the sight of it. If it is modern crux, then do the same to my panties.
