Not exactly. The story is playing in an imaginary steppeland. The 'Thughs' in the story are wandering and looting bands of warriors that are invading it.

wonderful idea for a thread! I recall a scene from the 70's where the actress runs away from a house to a forest, then she is recaptured and forced to run barefoot tied behind a horse. I saw this clip just once and never get to see it again. I just remember it was a movie from the reenacting the medieval era.
