The "neck rack" looks good, but, in reality it would be a very bad idea. It would very quickly cause seperation of the cervical vertibrae resulting in death. Not a good method if the object was to make a person confess.
If I remember correctly, in the DVD commentary for "Mark of the Devil", directory Michael Armstrong says he had no idea how Gaby Fuchs was supposed to be able to talk & scream with her chin pressed against the stock.
