Simple but effective ... nicely done!
She would have been wise to consider a prenuptial agreement when she married him that would have exempted her from sharing his fate. Just saying.

Or imagine the reverse : she was the spy. According to Roman Law, he was responsible for all her acts, even those he was not aware of. So, he takes the double humiliation of the crucifixion as punishment for his wife, and being exposed as a careless husband who did not succeed to implement his authority.

Nothing to apologize for at all! As a final mercy, when they took the bodies down, the executioners should have positioned the husband in between his wife’s legs so he could ride her into eternity.

“Some advice, girl. Just let it go in. Easier to just get it over with. ‘Least you get to decide where to take it.”
“Nononono...*sobbing*”

Inez was very fond of sunbathing. She loved to lie naked in the shining sun with eyes closed, sweating in the extreme heat. Often she did it on her Spanish villa flat roof but after her dark secrets were discovered and the governor ordered her to be punished she hadn't change her fancies. And when the soldiers were busy with preparations she closed her eyes and stretched her naked body on the hot sand relaxing and soaking up the sunny glow. They said, she endured some 45 hours of this extreme pleasure mixed with the most terrible pain, hanging on her wrists and feet and sitting on a nail hammered under her crotch, in the front of her villa, with her eyes closed and not paying the slightest attention to the crowds, before she finally died - of a hearth attack from overheating.
