For those who like it less painting more realistic style, I have created a female version of the galley movie poster from the 1959 movie Ben Hur (original image for instance here). Not really releated to crucifixion, or maybe still, after all, Jesus does get crucified in that movie. But in this scene not. This is more a slave girl scenery ...

Roman Trireme powered by all the usual Cruxgirl suspects, led by the beautiful Gallic slave @messaline (front center) with the newest slave, Barbaria escorted down to the rowing deck (distant right).

BTW, Who are those dudes with the whips?

One is called 'Bull' and the other 'Gunner'...
... are they obliged to use of them ? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !
No, if you row harder they wouldn't... but you might have other ways to distract them!!!!

Well, just to state: that lady on the bench is NOT one of my renderings!!!

If we need to go this route, here comes an art based rendering of Bull (or Gunnar? who is who?) taking his slave girl. I did not think I would ever post that image in any forum, but anyway, @messaline pushes into this direction. Ball gags are not my style, they always distort a beautiful face ...

Technically: the original is an artful sketch by Brian Tarsis (see second picture here). Tarsis is a master of sketchy suggestion without elaborating details, for instance the slavegirl's right leg is only indicated by a thin stroke in the original. I like that, it stimulates the spectator's brain. But the AI gets confused by this, hence at a certain time point I decided to mirror the left leg to create a real right leg, so that the AI understands the pose better.

@thehangingtree No loinclothes here. How is your happyness now? :nut:

I left my rendering as a painting style, not photorealistic, to honor Tarsis' style!

Back to the flagellation scene on the way of cross. There are plenty of ancient paintings of that scene. I took a fresco from Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune church in Strasbourg as starting point (original can be seen for instance here). Despite its name (jeune=young), the church is very old, foundations in 8th century AD, most of the cloister is 11th century to 14th century, hence it could be a 14th century image. I am not sure about the exact time point or original painter.

Anyway, here is my converted result. I think my painting looks more dramatic because the old painters held back on emotional depictions.

Does any of you really compares the originals with my results?
