I may have done wrong, but I deserve a punishment befitting someone of my station, not the humiliation of public crucifixion, and naked too, like a lowly commoner or a slave. I protested but no one listened. They just stripped me, had me flogged and now have forced me to carry my own cross!!!

I stumble to my knees. This is not right! Someone else should be carrying my cross! Where see my servants? Why have I been forced to endure so much torture and degradation at the hands of such low-life as the common soldiers assigned to torture me? I'm a noblewoman. This just isn't right!!!

You will never see that correspondence ... I destroyed it ... and I will never tell you who the rebel leaders are or where they are hiding. I will go to my death on that cross first. I just beg you to show me the dignity of my noblewoman status. May I please have at least a loincloth ... I am not a commoner ... I should have some dignity even if I must die nailed to a cross like any commoner or slave.
