Well I dont really see evidence of the existance of the cornu in Roman sources or even in this graffiti (Which is a well known graffiti denigrating what the Romans called ‘the crucified god of the Christians’). I mean, if this was real wouldnt there have been mention of it in Tacitus, or even more so Josephus? I mean Josephus explains for example how the Roman legions besieging Jerusalem crucified many so-called jews in many different positions and were very creative about them. Again, no mention of a device in the ass.
Dont get me wrong, I really could believe the Romans to be capable of this because of their sexualized culture and extreme abhorrence to feminized males and harlots. For us today that all does not matter, so a lot of the horror of the crucifixion ment for Romans we are just missing.
