Indeed, very inspiring. One can go from this:

...in rather short order.

This image is 5 separate layers, including 2 of just the girl (to get the cross to look like it's actually behind her), plus an additional 8 layers for light blending colour and other minor adjustments. I expect there are simpler ways to do this, but they wouldn't turn out quite as nice. All this because I didn't want to take her out of her original setting.
