Best Picture at the Berlinale: Barbarossanova!
By Spike Sharp
Basking in the success of Barbarossanova at this year’s 68th Berlinale, Barbara Moore and Alisa Kusinova are seen above clutching the ‘Best Film’ award.
Over budget and overdue, the premiere of the eagerly awaited Barbarinder production, 'Barbarossanova' has become the highlight of the 2018 Berlin Film Festival. Attending in person were leading members of the cast, who were in great demand by film critics and reporters. Barbara Moore was also joined by co-stars, Vassily Ilyasov and Klaus Erbe for photo calls and interviews.
The excitement of the occasion was palpable at this 68th Berlinale, in the year which sees the 70th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. We asked Barbara Moore, 'How significant is this premiere to the city of Berlin, and how relevant is the story to the city's liberation, in view of the Soviet occupation which followed?'
She replied, 'Barbarossanova' is a story of contradictions, which reflects human nature and the way in which ordinary people are swept up in extraordinary events beyond their control. It is a celebration of the survival of the human will, and it is relevant, not only to Berlin, but to the rest of the world where similar conflicts are having the same effects today.’
There is no doubt that Barbarossanova has been extremely well received in Berlin, and we at the Crux Chronicle would like to congratulate Bobinder, Barb, and the team for the well-deserved acclaim that the film has seen in Berlin.
We hope that we’ll be seeing a great deal more of Barb in the future, though we note that audiences in Berlin have seen a great deal of her already!
Barbarossanova: a phenomenal new movie!
