Bob has combined Alice and Koshka, a set of hard faced Romans, and Morten's Vivien in an evocative scene that is all too believable. Every figure is perfect for the scene, and with framing and depth of field Vivien emerges as the subject of the story. Her visible breasts and outstretched arms give a hint to what is to come as she looks into the distance, perhaps at the execution place itself. There will be no mercy to be found here, only pain and suffering.

Many thanks to everyone for the positive responses. This was an interesting experiment in lighting and depth of field techniques, and I'm glad it has been so well received. :)
 
I don't know, maybe it's because I never carried a cross, but it's been a fantasy of mine to carry a cross to a place of torment. To experience the torture it must bring as you walk before the mob.

It is just part of the disgraceful torment you should suffer before you are nailed and displayed naked on the cross... it is only proper to show you this way to your friends and neighbors.

Yes, Tree, you're right, I'm a terrible woman and need to be punished in front of the whole town.

They make me carry the cross all the way through the town. I listen to the jeers from the mob. They throw stones and spit at me. As we reach the edge of town, I see the hill I have to climb, and then, when we reach the top, my real torment will begin.
