Don't worry about that : at first, I wanted to go deep in the dark part of my mind (after having been horrified by Mel Gibson's movie ) ... and it was very challenging for me to find how to do things and solve problems...

You can thank me if you wish, for SHARING this work with this community, but certainly not for DOING it ;)

Looking at your animation, I think you placed the nails very close to the target for the IK chains at least in the hands. I wanted them to be further into the hands than that, where the small bones of the wrists are rather than in the wrist joint itself. So the only way that IK was going to work for me was if I modified the IK chain targets, which I wasn't comfortable with doing back then. I could do it now. But in general, I quit using IK and now just manage all of the joints manually.

And yes, it's all just illusion! :)

Good point. Even a small woman is a weight, and you don't want it moving around too much while you're trying to raise her and a heavy wooden cross. Very awkward.
But dramatic.

Bartnel's animations are a triumph, so much drama and the cross has only just been raised. We have felt every nail, every indignity. Now there is endless endurance ahead of her/us
 
I have never seen raising the cross this way. They take advantage of their superior size. Very original concept. Great to see the preparation stage over and the girl ready to suffer. Hope there are some scenes more of her agony. Thank you for the update!

I've come to appreciate the raising of the cross and its setting into place as one of the most intense though shortest parts of the crucifixion process. This most recent gif is simply superb in showing that scene. The first moments hanging fully crucified have to be the most intensely traumatic and soul-crushing for the victim. Now, she's finally in the position she'll be in for the rest of her life!!! Except for minor adjustments in position, this is it. Hanging against these pieces of wood. No support but the nails and wood against the back of her feet. :eek::eek::eek:

I simply love the image of her looking up at the nail through her wrist, and then so sorrowfully looking away, the agony etched in her delicate features, Wish that image lasted a bit longer. It's among the best in this whole brilliant series.

Beautiful details such as the rapid short shallow breathing and the quivering of her left arm as she struggles to rise.

A thought on the storyline-
Joan Tree has tormented many of the ladies of CF. She is damned to Hell to spend an eternity crucified...
