@GabriellaSivilla - the thief, the wretched woman - lies where the soldiers have left her. She was raped, flogged most savagely, and raped again. She suffered humiliation and pain, all for the amusement of the brutal men who were supposedly administering Roman justice.
She died while they were violating her, ignoring her horrible wounds.
Her bruised and bloodied naked body is left strewn on the ground. Thankfully, they did not have the time to crucify her as then her tortures would have been neverending.

Inspired by @jimsac's great image above I also made a picture of Gabriella on the ground after her thorough whipping. I let you decide if she has already departed to a better world, or if she is just momentarily stunned by the pain and there is more to come.

Yeah, I agree, jucundus' rendering is a real masterpiece. The tension inplied in the scene, the positions of all the characters, so natural, the marks and the dirt on my body. And those terrible whips ...! And the perfect correspondance to what I tried to describe in the story!

Jucundus you continue to blow me away with your detailed and realistic renders. I love this image of Gabriela staring out into the mid distance, right before her flogging. She knows she is about to be tortured to death, with whipmarks soon to cover and canvas her naked body. I also loved the image of Gabriela collapsed on the floor after her whipping. Great job on the hair posing for both images, especially the one where she is on the ground.
