I thought I lived in the gutter... Apparently it wasn't built yet!!!It's a scene from one of those Barbarian Queen flicks. I remember seeing it.
There is a movie 'Hero of Babylon", from 1963. It's one of these many Italian peplum movies from the time. I do not know whether it is based on Frichet's novel, but there is a whipping scene in it, on an X-cross that recalls the cover of the novel.
