Hanging And Garrottage

Is there any advice on how a hangman could make longer a prisoner’s “dancing” while hanging?
Sure, a short drop and a thick rope ...
But i had read from this chain that the knot of the hanging rope would have been put in front not back of the neck?

Easy don't use a hangman's knot which is DESIGNED to break a prisoners neck with a drop.

Simple square knot and hoist them slowly. Depending on how much pressure is put on the neck arteries (a "sleeper" hold which will put most people out in under 15 seconds) you can slowly strangle them to death.

"Simple square knot and hoist them slowly". Can i ask what that mean in practice?
Sorry for my stupid questions but I tried to write a story here to future. I am grateful for any advice.

I assume using a garotte - there is perhaps no "dancing", but it could be prolongued quite a time.

All you need is any type of knot that doesn't attack the neck with force (as a hang man's knot does). I just happen to have chosen a square knot but there are others.

In theory what happens is the weight of the body slowly tightens the knot around the victims neck as they lose the ability to support their weight with the feet/toes off the floor.

If the pressure is exerted on the arteries on the sides of the neck the victim will still black our pretty quickly as the brain uses up its oxygen. So you actually want to apply pressure to the throat so it slowly closes on them.

The hangman's knot and drop method was invented as a more 'humane' (snapping the neck and severing the spinal cord) type of hanging. Before that it was simply a noose around the neck and pull them up.

What the English used!
The big bag on the floor was used to take any stretch out of the rope before it was used for the execution.

I suspect many of you will recognise this set (indeed, it is on the first page of this thread). But I am trying to identify the artist. I know I know them, but I am damned if I can put the name to them...........

After extensive hunting of the internet for pictures of hanged women*, I can identify the artist as xavrmav. The full set ('Ghost Story') is available on TDS.

xavrmav 'Ghost Story part 1
xavrmav 'Ghost Story part 2
xavrmav 'Ghost Story part 3

*It's a tough job, but someone has to do it...............
Sorry, I just discovered this thread. starting at the beginning, and was appalled that Laetitia didn't identify the artist, since I knew instantly it was Xavrmav on TDS.

I know she's a good person and a creator, so I was astounded that she apparently couldn't identify the artist.

My only guess is that she downloaded these images when she was new to forums, and didn't pay a lot of attention to whose thread she was downloading from.

In any case, Xavrmav's Ghost Story is extremely wonderful, IMO.

In addition to creating all the pictures, he also writes substantial text to flesh out the story.

This particular story is perhaps "odder" than most of his stories, since it involves a family curse, where an innocent milkmaid was cruelly burned at the stake in centuries past, by a jealous noblewoman, her ladies-in-waiting, and a semi-immortal witch. But somehow the milkmaid was able to cast a curse on the progeny of the noble family, and the curse was visited on all the female members of the family. The protagonist of the story is a present-day young woman who inherits the ruins of the castle, but finds she has one way to break the curse: she must be transported back in time into the bodies of the guilty perpetrators and experience the execution death of each of them.

(Since my somewhat unique fetish is put myself into the bodies of women executed...this particularly appeals to me :))

Quite a fanciful story, but it allows us to view the above hanging, another burning at the stake, a ritual dagger sacrifice, and a double beheading.

Most of his other stories (all on TheDarkSpot) are more straightforward, and all have MANY executions by different methods (unfortunately his favorite method of execution is long-drop hanging, where death is instantaneous). The above hoist hanging in Ghost Story is somewhat unusual for him, and is my favorite.

Thank you to Migoz2 for providing the links to the 3 parts of the story, and I do advise folks here to follow the links to view the entire story, or at least the pictures in context.

Yes, I know the set. It is very hot because they just hoist her up naked and she began to struggle.

It’s by Jean Bond?
Um, NO...most definitely not.

If you look at Migoz2's message and/or my rather long message only 2 messages back, you will see that the artist and author is Xavrmav, who to the best of my knowledge posts exclusively on TheDarkSpot.

Migoz2 gave the links to the 3 parts of the story in his post, and I quoted them in my post.

So simply click on the links to see the originals. Of course, if you're not registered on TheDarkSpot, you'll have to create a userid and password to view anything.
