Hanging And Garrottage

I like it, but I don't understand why the victims always stick their tongue out! ;) this is also seen in hanging scenes very often...
I've done a little reading on the technical literature and I think I can answer your question regarding tongue protrusion. I also studied the features of a public execution by hanging in Kansas City
PHYSIOLOGY OF SHOCKENING WITH A LOOP
Death with proper hanging comes from strangulation with a noose
Under the influence of gravity, the loop presses on the neck and leads to closure
the root of the tongue of the lumen of the larynx, thereby stopping the flow of air into the lungs
which eventually leads to cardiac arrest and death
The sequence of action of the loop on the neck with the occipital location of the knot.
With the vertical position of the hanging and occipital localization of the knot, the loop, having slipped
usually up to the hyoid bone, compresses the neck between the upper edge of the thyroid
cartilage, larynx and hyoid bone. Her big horns are pressed against her spine,
shifting the root of the tongue back and up, thereby pressing it against the back wall of the pharynx and soft
the sky, almost completely closing the lumen of the respiratory tract, and makes it difficult or completely
stops air from entering the lungs from the nose or mouth

The sequence of action of the loop on the neck with the lateral location of the knot.
The loop, squeezing the neck, shifts the larynx towards the node, and the root of the tongue moves back
and to the side, in contrast to the displacement of the tongue with the occipital location of the node. Wherein
it also closes the entrance to the pharynx, which leads to the cessation of air access to the lungs.

Despite the fact that both with the lateral and occipital location of the knot, the root of the tongue interrupts breathing, it should be said that with the lateral location of the knot, the strangulation process is slower and the execution continues for a longer time. Other things being equal.

When the tongue begins to move under the influence of the loop, it may eventually protrude from the mouth, but may not protrude. Therefore, in the final, in some cases, we can observe the protruding tongue of a woman, but in many cases the tongue is not visible.

When everything is ready, in order to start executing the criminal, it is enough just to deprive her legs of support and a noose
will start working
It does not matter how high the legs are above the ground, as soon as the legs come off the ground she is already hung.
There are two methods of hanging in Kansas City.
Short drop
It is practiced on high gallows, when the scaffold and the gallows are set at a height of 2-3m from the ground level. The offender stands on a wide hatch or platform, which is lowered down or sideways with the help of levers.
The rope is used of small length and, therefore, the criminal falls to a small height of less than 1 meter, while above the ground it hangs at a height of 2-3 m from the level of the legs, which provides the audience with an excellent view.
Lift up or pull up
Practiced on low scaffold gallows when the scaffold and gallows are set at ground level.
At the same time, the crossbar is set to a height of 3.5-4m, and the rope passes through a block or other mechanism. The executioner with assistants pull the rope and lift the woman up, or a mechanism is turned on that smoothly pulls the back end of the rope, winding it around the drum. For a good view, a woman is lifted up to a height of 2-3m from her feet to ground level. Then the rope is stopped. The hanging method is determined in advance.
But the female criminal will only know how she will be hanged when the noose is around her neck.
But in the end, it doesn't matter if she falls down or rises up. After 15-35 minutes, the result will be reached. EXECUTATION will be carried out and the female criminal will be DEAD

Excellent Description -Thank you ! Is a bladder release normally happening at the end of a execution by hanging ?

Bladder and bowel release is normal with people who have died. All the muscles loosen up. I don't see it in some RL hanging clips I 've seen. Then again, those clips are short. Better that way. Not really interested in that.

Perhaps when performing a garrote execution, you should always use a thick rope loop. I don't understand the use of steel hoops. A woman can injure herself when she suffocates and can open her veins in her neck. As a result, she will die from blood loss and soil the entire apparatus. This is not humane and inaccurate. I just can't imagine how to perform the procedure correctly using a steel hoop.

I have thought that if the hanging were done so slowly, e.g. by lifting, that the condemned's heels only rise in the air, but the noose is so tight all the time that it still strangles the condemned's throat. Eventually, the convict would be so tired of standing on her/his toes that she/he would suffocate to death. Of course it's really sad and painful for the convicts, but the audience might see a long and entertaining hanging.

In a way, the person sentenced to be hanged really "danced" in the end when she/he still tries to get support, but the cramps prevent her/him from getting any more support from the ground.

P.S. I hope you can understand something from my text because my English is not good.
