Well, the Romans had no icebreakers in the "Mare Nostrum". The US has only one, and that worries the military. Canada, new NATO member Finland, and NATO aspirant Sweden are also copiously endowed with icebreakers. As the ice melts, paradoxically, polar seas (north and south) open for navigation and icebreakers become more relevant. Being a warmth-inclined landlubber, I do not aspire to icebreaking. But the Ides are upon us, hence my contribution.
