Poor Barb... Being publicly executed is bad enough, but being 'expendable' must be an even more terrible humiliation for her...
I like the concept of the 'good guy' having to sacrifice her for a greater cause... But I can't say more about this for now.

Wait a minute! Wait a minute! They are really framing Barb.
That Captain Abunjon, wasn't he on a list of dead people - see episode 10. Then that dead man shows up alive and kicking, in the torture room, next to Barb and the General?
Next, that Captain Abunjon simply reveals his CIA identity and his cover to Barb, in a situation where she could cry it out publically.
First of all, the General must be a real dumbass, if he would not pick up Barb's naming of the captain (chapter 10) as a warning, that there could be a traitor in his staff.
On the other hand, the captain must be a dumbass if he does not realize that, by getting named by Barb, the General could become suspicious and that he could now be in danger.
Conclusion : the General and the Captain know perfectly about each other. The captain pretends to be a CIA member (and in Langley they probably think he is one of them). By executing Barb, the Captain confirms his credibility to Langley, not to the General.
Actually, I think the Captain is a KGB representative. Hint : his assertion that there will be no rescue. Because, why is help not coming?
In Europe, Mrs. Merkel has brought the message that Mr. Erdogan has insisted to take part in the rescue action, otherwise, he would unleash another wave of refugees over the continent. As Europe agrees, Mr. Erdogan asks money from the EU to finance his part of the operation. With the money, he purchases oil from... the General, who uses the money to buy weapons from Mr. Xyulo - wanted by criminal international court in The Hague, who convinces Mr. Erdogan not to go without support from the US, knowing that the Mr. Obama will not allow boots on the ground or another scandal of clumsy CIA operations, just three months before the presidential elections, as he does not want to jeopardize the chances of Mrs. Clinton.
Meanwhile, Mr. Xyulo - wanted by criminal international court in The Hague convinces Mrs. May to hold back. So, she publically confirms her alliance to her European ‘friends’, but behind closed doors, she actually makes them clear that the UK will not move before the US elections, so that they know to whom to deal with in Washington (Mrs. May has meanwhile found out that the only economically viable scenarios for the UK to avoid national bankruptcy after Brexit will be a) becoming the 51st state of the USA, or b) joining the Russian Federation, or c) submitting to the IS caliphate (in this order of preference but in the reverse order of potential economical profit
), so she does not want to upset neither Mr. Obama and his successor, not Mr. Xyulo - wanted by criminal international court in The Hague, in order to give options a) or b) a chance) .
In Europe, no one will move without consent and participation of all the coalition members.

I don't think a "good guy" would sacrifice a colleague. Unless the idea of a "good guy" is somewhat ambiguous here. If intelligence services are involved then events will be a bit murky.
So, I'll jut keep patiently waiting for the next chapter. Great story!
Going up in the air like that? A very odd way to execute. Is he going to push her out of the basket (or whatever you call it)? Why go through all the trouble of a public humiliation only to execute quickly?
Or is this the setup for a very dramatic rescue? I don't think Barb is going to be expendable here. She's a pawn, but not necessarily expendable.

Well, I can't make any of this out. There may be a squad of RAF biplanes coming, along with a Euro coalition force of some sort (traffic wardens, likely). Wragg is going on about some sort of pawn cocktail, and we all await Madiosi, the German version of Rambo. If one stays focused, Barb is naked on a crane lift. Great story!

It seems to me the Captain is not doing anything stupid on the lift. He's being very careful, which means he has Barb's safety in mind.
The gate is closed so no one can fall off.
