One can only imagine the cruelness of executing someone by crucifying them. Of course the nails hurt, both from being driven through the condemned woman's body and the long hours hanging from them. A pair of prisoners lose sympathy for each other as their torture drags on. There is limited mobility- after all, they are nailed to the cross. And the cross is not a fine piece of furniture. Eventually the splinters that tear at her bare skin becomes as great an annoyance as the nails holding her to the cross. To the guards' enjoyment, she twists her body to spare her bottom from the wood's rough face.
No wonder it was banned! It is illegal to touch a prisoner once she is crucified!
