The Spanish Inquisition targeted Marranos/ Conversos, Jews who'd formally converted
but were suspected of still being secretly practising Jews.
I can only suppose that it's hinting at that, albeit in a rather clumsy way.

Long hair are nice, but difficult to fit in extreme positions
