(Modern) enslavement process

While doing a Discord RP set in the modern slavery setting I'm always blathering on about, my attention was drawn to the vague space between the loss of one's freedom and being purchased/put up for rent. Somewhat similar, in a way, to the process by which a farm animal is turned into a product on store shelves... except in that in this case, the product is delivered alive and with full memory of the process, which is likely to be very impactful on them. But, what aspects should that process include, and what form should it take?

So far I've come up with the following, in no particular order.
  • A full, highly invasive medical exam. And if that's not practical right away, at least a preliminary one to get important facts. (Many slaves will have medical records provided, but independent confirmation is still best.)
  • Fingerprinting, and possibly retinal scans and a DNA sample.
  • Stripping and sanitisation. (Especially important in these times, you know!)
  • Full-body photography, from multiple angles (including formerly private parts).
  • Orientation to the process and slavery in general, either in person or by pre-made video.
  • Possible interview regarding useful skills and talents, followed by testing of same.
  • Assessment by company professionals, determining the best distribution stream (wholesale, rental, retail, auction) and "model" (domestic, labour, secretarial, bed toy etc.), as well as flagging for "adjustment training" as well as other more innocuous sorts of training.

As for slave management during this period...
  • Slaves are kept mostly isolated aside from staff, who communicate with them on a strictly "as-necessary" basis. Disobedience (including demanding answers like they're entitled to any)) is strictly punished, starting with an immediate use of the slave's shock collar and getting worse from there. The idea is to condition the slave to obey without needing a reason.
  • Slave housing is cramped and uncomfortable, ranging from lockers barely big enough to fit them for temp storage to closet-sized cells for longer-term housing. Of course, all such cells have cameras and microphones allowing for constant surveillance, as well as intercoms and in some cases feeding tubes allowing for slaves to be addressed/fed without opening them. (Speaking of food, it's bland but nutritious slave slop.)
  • Slaves are generally either kept naked, or provided with minimal necessary garments. Depending on housing arrangements, they may sometimes be diapered.
  • Slaves are generally restrained when being transported from place to place. One common method is by strapping/cuffing them to a backboard mounted on a wheeled dolly, allowing them to be moved around like objects while immobile. Both single and multiple versions of these "slave transporters" exist. (Wouldn't mind some art of this, maybe...)

So... what am I missing? Does any of the above not make sense? And how should it all fit together?

I take immediate exception to this one as a violation of my legal right to free speech!

i think you are missing marking the slave - both by implanted microchip (like today pet) as well as tatooing with a registration number (on side of the neck, or shoulder) - this number definitely in clear text, as well as possibly as bar code ... and making the slave learn that registration number by heart (it will ber asked for by the guards quite often in the next few days, with punishments for mistakes)

Indeed, I can't believe this slipped my mind! As well as it's companion, the creation (or re-activation) of the slave's profile on the International Slave Registry.

yes - something like the ISR is necessary - linking the tatoo number and (different) chip ID to both the slave itself (probalby also keeping medical, training and disciplinary details in the database) and of course to its owner of record

Indeed - it's so much more convenient than my mother's day, where it was just a jumble of national registries - and kept on paper, at that! Slaves slipped through the cracks all the time...

yes - no more running away and "passing" two states away ..

and its a lot more convenient for masters to have all that data stored "on the cloud"

Here is a thread that discusses similar things:

My contribution was the SlavePhone (TM)!

The Slavephone (TM) isn't carried by the slave as no pockets in birthday suit, but is incorporated into the locked collar they wear. At night the chain they are restrained by includes the charge cable so they don't "forget" to recharge it. Of course the owner controls the phone, not the slave.

The owner uses their Masterphone (TM) to track all their slaves by GPS, use the built- in camera and microphone to make sure they are working, order them with the speakers, and apply electric shock incentive as needed. The Masterphone will automatically alert the owner if any Slavephones are removed, broken or go out-of-reception.

The Slavephone can be voice-activated by the slave to make emergency calls: "Help! I am injured/on fire/being stolen!" Generous owners will allow their slaves to make calls to friends when not working, or allow contactless payment for small luxuries with the money they have saved up, but these privileges can swiftly be taken back if abused.

The new SlavePhone 2030 has several upgrades. There are now four cameras giving all round vision so no more pointing the camera away from what the owner wants to see. A built-in motion sensor tracks how active the slave is, so no more lazing around. Wi-Fi connection to other devices is now supported so, for instance, security doors can be unlocked and then locked again after the slave passes through. The collar now includes a needle to administer drugs: a stimulant for working, a sedative for sleeping or stopping escape attempts, or a narcotic for reward. (Warning: excess use may lead to addiction.)

In spite of numerous requests there is one feature the SlavePhone 2030 has not implemented: the Explosive Charge Slave Eliminator.

Research has shown that occasional "Out of Signal" electric shock leads to slavegirl squeals and jiggling, which is good for owner morale. On the other hand: "I drove through a tunnel and my slavegirl's head exploded" leads only to negative reviews.

Excellent expansions - though I do think such an advanced product would perhaps be owner-bought, rather than applied at the processing stage.

that is question of costs - and if this is produced in large enough numbers this should be pretty cheap - close to negligible compared to the cost of a slave

The older SlavePhone 2000 was sold at a deep discount to several slave auction houses during Black Friday. While having only a single camera and less features than the new version, it gets the slave and owner used to the convenience of the system. This sale freed up the warehouses for the new product, and the hope is the new owner will upgrade for Christmas.

"What are you getting your slave for Christmas?" as the advert goes.

Smart! Although cheap folk like me will probably just leave it at that.

Recent joiner here, but this is my area of interest. In modern times you can use technology to make "idle time" work for you. A slave, even in storage, has 24 hours in the day like any free person. You can't have physical trainers the whole time, and the slave has to be permitted a certain amount of sleep. How to fill the 24 hours for efficient processing?

Sensory input. Assuming the slave is in a containment unit of some kind, control of the lighting and sound must be outside its control. They must be unable to communicate with other slave units in storage. So the cage is soundproof. It is a single lighting source and a single sound source, like a loudspeaker. The slave may not be aware of it, but a monitor camera and microphone are desirable too.

When not in training, sleep periods are strictly defined, and may include elements of sleep deprivation. Lights go off and on to indicate sleep times. Slaves are monitored during sleep times and may be punished for not sleeping.

Automated feeding - a nozzle for water. Voice recognition, like Siri, can be used so that certain key phrases must be spoken by the slave before water is granted. For example, it must say "This slave begs for water" a certain number of times, before being allowed to suck at the nozzle. All possible using modern tech. Other phrases may be required before feeding.

"This slave begs for water"
"This is my new life now"
"I love to obey"
"Thank you Master"
"I love being a slave girl/boy"

As a bonus these responses can be recorded and then fed back subliminally into the sounds of the confinement unit. The slave hears their own voice making these powerful statements. Maybe fed back during sleep periods.
