(Continued) If I understand the brainwashing process correctly, the idea is to break down certain parts of the subject's ego. And crucially, re-integrate them into a mind set that is more conducive to slavery. Some will embrace it. Some, will take effort to "work with the program".

We must now discuss the prospect of bodily functions, distasteful though some of them are. The confinement unit contains an aperture which opens at regular intervals thoughout the day. When the aperture is opened, the slave is told "the slave has one minute to urinate" and he or she must do so at the appropriate location. Males find this relatively easy. Females are not usually able to direct their urine in a directed manner [ girls, check with me on this please! ] Punishment for failure to comply is trivial, because the unit will stink after a few days. Defection is similarly controlled, through sensible dieting and provision of sufficient roughage in the diet. A trained doctor monitors the physical health of each subject.

Every few days the subject is cleaned. It is important that the subject is not permitted contact with speaking humans at this point. A totally automated unit could spray the slave with water, but ultimately this is hard to automate. Therefore the slave-to-be is lightly drugged and is washed down with a sponge and soap by another (fully trained) slave. It's important the the slave being conditioned sees others collared, nude and obedient. If necessary the washing slave is gagged to prevent any speech. At master's discretion the slaves may also undergo pubic shaving.

After the washing, the (Free) Doctor may make an inspection on the lightly drugged slave. To be fair, these are usually just nominal inspections. A male slave has its prostate checked, for example. Male slaves may be placed in chastity cages. Females are given inimate inspections at the Doctor's whim. Menstruating females are given appropriate sanitary wear. It is essential that the slaves have no agency at all, to bring them to a passive, accepting mindset. No physical pain is administered (except in extremely difficult cases).

Masturbation control is contentious. Some trainers believe that the boredom will cause the slaves to masturbate and this increases sexual drive. Others feel that restriction emphasizes control. THis is the reason that chastity devices are not universal for males.

Sensory input. Assuming the slave is in a containment unit of some kind, control of the lighting and sound must be outside its control. They must be unable to communicate with other slave units in storage. So the cage is soundproof. It is a single lighting source and a single sound source, like a loudspeaker. The slave may not be aware of it, but a monitor camera and microphone are desirable too.

When not in training, sleep periods are strictly defined, and may include elements of sleep deprivation. Lights go off and on to indicate sleep times. Slaves are monitored during sleep times and may be punished for not sleeping.

Automated feeding - a nozzle for water. Voice recognition, like Siri, can be used so that certain key phrases must be spoken by the slave before water is granted. For example, it must say "This slave begs for water" a certain number of times, before being allowed to suck at the nozzle. All possible using modern tech. Other phrases may be required before feeding.

As a bonus these responses can be recorded and then fed back subliminally into the sounds of the confinement unit. The slave hears their own voice making these powerful statements. Maybe fed back during sleep periods.

Interesting - a very intense form of psychological breaking down and rebuilding. (Solitary confinement in prisons is already known to be destructive to the psyche, after all.)

How long do you think a slave will need this level of training? And how expensive would it be? Is it cost-effective for ordinary slaves, or just higher-end products? (Or maybe reconditioning of troublemakers?)
 
Real-world scientific literature isn't clear. I believe that it was first attempted during the Korean war, by the N. Koreans and allies. Subsequent was research was undertaken by the CIA and so on, but if you try to discover it, it's massively obscured by conspiracy theories like MKULTRA. And of course there are ethical concerns, obviously.

In fantasy land, this is somewhere between punishment and reconditioning. I'm guessing a week, maybe two, would be a firm punishment. Reconditioning could be resisted but so long as physical control over the livestock exists, the confinement cell would make a fine punishment. To get to the point where a slave was reconditioned to accept and love their state, other things would need to happen. I can think of interesting ideas but I'm not an expert!

Also an element of hypnosis, but classical hypnosis requires a level o cooperation on the part of the subject
 
Continuing the ramble of using tech to enhance the initial slave conditioning... after a few days of non contact with Free persons, no speech, and only limited contact with other slaves, let's consider how to use tech to guide subject behaviour and set up some positive feedback loops.

Once again the subject is lightly sedated and the box is opened. Any necessary cleaning and inspections are done. A menstruating female is set aside until the end of her period. Otherwise, straps are inserted into the confinement unit and the slave is tuned onto it's back, with legs parted and with hands unable to reach the groin. This doesn't require total limb immobilisation. A remote controlled stimulator device is inserted into the female slave's cunt. Some equivalent can be found for the male. The slave's head is clamped to look up at a screen on the ceiling. As before for the feeding system, phrases appear on the screen, and when phrases are correctly spoken, the stimulator device activates as a reward. For a number of hours, there is nothing to do but repeat phrases and accept the pleasure.

"I was born for slavery"
"Master decides my fate"
"I must obey the Free"
"It is a joy to serve my Master in all things"

The system tries to ensure that orgasm is attained and when that happens the slave is told they are a good girl/boy.

This is not a permanent state, so after a few hours the slave is released from restrain under mild sedation.
 
I see... a vary intense process.

How do you think the results of this process would act? Would they seem "creepy" or "uncanny" to normal people, or could they pass as more or less normal given limited interaction?
 
A process of breaking down the psyche is only a half process. It could be followed by normal training. The deep learning is at the core but surface interactions fully human. Assuming it all goes to plan
 
True. Though if slaves have been kept successfully long before, it remains to be seen how widely this would be adopted. (There might also be people who protest against it, like factory farming gets. And avoiding it might be a common part of enslavement insurance...)
 
Part of the fun (in my mind) is the idea of mass slave training and how it could be automated. Certainly in the real world there are some who want to undergo things like this. It's a bit specialised.
 
Well, it certainly does make sense that big companies would want to automate it as much as possible... but then, they would also want to do as little training as they can get away with at each product level, as time in which the slave is not sold is time they have to house and feed it. (Well, unless they use a rental model... but even then, they would want to maximise the paid-for time they spend with owners.) So, thinking about it, the ones most into intensive training might be places people pay to have their slaves trained....

Interesting thing, for me anyway, is that so much of this is doable right now with current technology. Ethics aside, it's hot.
