One of the most interesting and impressive examples of modern technology is the 3D printer. Of course this technology has been around since at least the early 80s, so not actually "new" but it's really only in the last ten years or so that they've become available to the average consumer at a sensible price. While they're still not exactly plug & play yet (they require a LOT of tinkering to get great results), they do give us the opportunity to make some very interesting things.
