Crux forums doesn't seem like a big hip hop fan base, so I want to see if I can start a discussion about this song right here. And I'm posting the lyrics below to, because I think there's something really interesting going on worth dissecting.

Acoustic folksy cultural appropriation version (Which I actually prefer)

Firstly, I love this song, and a lot of women I know love this song, and find it really sexy
Secondly, but taking into account the first, the narrator is shallow, crass, vain, and somewhat passive aggressive, and yet still sexy. Like in the last fifty years we've gone from "I want to hold your hand" to "You shook me all night long" to "Can you let me stretch that pussy out or nah"

I have been listening to The Cure recently, and revisited my favorite Cure album, 1981's "Faith". I consider this album the quintessential Cure album. Robert Smith had stated in an interview I read, that his favorite song was "Faith", the last song on the album. I was very excited to read this because it is by far my favorite Cure song. It is very haunting, and hypnotic. I would believe this song would make great background music for a séance:devil2:

I have new music coming out on Tuesday! My fifth album, from GASM is called SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS.

It's a concept album or rock opera that takes place in a middle school in small town Ontario. It's a behind-the-scenes look at what happens at the school, so you never see the classroom in the story.

GASM - my friend and writing partner, Gerry - and I released ten singles through this year in an effort to get people interested in the material.

Since it's somewhat appropriate for this forum, may I draw your attention to this track from long-time Swedish doom metal masters Candlemass. This is from their latest album, "Sweet Evil Sun" which only came a couple of weeks ago and is (iirc) the 13th full studio album from the band (they have a ton of EPs and live stuff in addition to these).

This track is called "Crucified" and, while it's not my favourite from this album (nor is this my favourite album from them - 1987's "Nightfall" is still the best IMO, after all these years), this is good stuff for those who like this genre, and it's amazing that this band are still churning out top tier metal after nearly 40 years in the business!
