New Threads

Not a new thread, but a new section in the BDSM Forum: BDSM Discussion
So far we've just moved one thread into there, to kick it off, we'll probably find others to move (and any suggestions will be welcomed), and it will of course provide a space for conversation about that range of interests, new threads on relevant topics will be very welcome.

This most likely fills in a lacuna in the BDSM forum. May I nevertheless suggest to define what is meant with 'BDSM'? Is it in the narrower sense, of all kinds of acts between consenting people, and with safety measures and safewords, and being played in private or in clubs, and never intended for execution or other lethal consequences? Currently, the BDSM forum also contains many stories about non-crux executions, for instance, BDSM in the 'wider sense'.

Yes... is this just for matters related to real-world enjoyment (and possibly fictional stories of same), or does it incorporate other aspects of fantasy as well?
It's difficult to draw a clear line, of course, and I don't think we staff would want to try to. The Fantasy Forum (apart from the dedicated sections for members' own work) is busy, and that's good, but it's quite cluttered and interesting threads can easily sink out of sight.

I would expect BDSM Discussion would be mainly concerned with the actual practice among consenting adults, personal experiences, role-play, interesting equipment and bondage methods, reflections on why (some) members find it enjoyable and helpful in their sex-lives and other psychological aspects ... (and I suppose individual sexual activity too, apart from self-crux)

Conversely, I wouldn't think that executions or non-consensual torture and sadism really belong with BDSM, though over time content on such themes has fallen into that Forum. As to BDSM-related stories, there's a separate section in the BDSM Forum for those, and I'd think similar guidance would apply, though - as with pictures - the line between 'realistic' BDSM and fantasies around that theme is a fuzzy one.

Our motive is mainly to provide a discussion space in that Forum to match the provision in the other two. But we won't be 'policing' in a heavy-handed way, if we feel a thread might be better moved into or out of that section, we'll let the originator and others involved know in a polite way.

That is clear for the headlines of the policy. Thanks! :)
