Nesselpeitschen in German (yes, nettle-whipping) - it does cause endorphin release, also increased circulation, and heightened sensitivity of the skin. Increasing intensity of any following impact on the nettled skin. So, it's potential is more than just a medical application ;)
Also if you're interested in producing your own non-chemical hair-care products, nettle extracts are tried and tested.
