I would ask PP to comment on the relative merits of twigs for beating, but you can't fault the submitting maiden

I'll comment unasked :D the merits of twigs can be availability; variation (supple, flexible ones that go swish, don't underestimate those, - or knotted ones - or thorny ones - or stinging nettles mixed into the bundle ...); and social acceptability: In some situations "disciplined with a bundle of twigs" is acceptable where "punished with a bullwhip" might be out of question ;)

One last shot for courage. Is this really such a good idea? How exactly did it happen again, that we talked each other into doing this? All for a surprise... but the risk of things going wrong... just think of the frequent so-called "delivery errors"... otherwise, the thrill of that risk... too late to stop now, anyway ...

A great artist! I don't know which pic I like more, this one or his first version;).
Phlebas has a good taste when he picks his pictures.
Not every picture inspires a writer to do three stories;).
And Barbaria1 has added a fourth one and Loxuru even a fifth.
Five stories for one picture!

A masterpiece!
It's signed by Alexandr Sergeev, probably a Russian. I did a search for him but I could only find a photographer who does mainly portraits.
The Russian name of the artist and the clothing of the bare-assed girl makes me think this is a scene from old Russia, though the cross doesn't look like an orthodox one (I don't see a horizontal beam at the feet).

Still, I do not believe in the slavery explanation. The signs on this drawing provide some clue. Translated, the one above the heads says : "Put your clothes and personal belongings into the bins before presenting to the guards". The one behind the fence reads "The wearing of chains is obligatory for female personnel ".

That is, why they look so accepting : whatever happens, they applied for it and they get paid for it. I guess something with high security : no talking, no running, no hands free, maybe they will be shackled to their workplace.

My guess : they work in the state's population control center. This one could be in Paris, France, the other one, in the mineshaft, in an Anglosaxon country.

On their workplace, they have an earphone and sit in front of screens. They monitor the CCTV and microphones in public places. They search for people criticizing the state, its leaders and its policy. With their left foot, the women track on the chip, planted into the suspects arm for identification, using the wifi function added to the CCTV system.

With their right foot, they activate the 'enter' function, so that the words and the identity of the suspect are registered into the computer database and the security services can go after him or her.

The employees have to work stripped, gagged and chained, because the state is so suspicious and paranoid, that it does not trust even its own employees.

:):)Be careful Repertor! Denouncing a member of the state security service may bring you into trouble.:):) And be sure, another reason why the girls do their work naked, chained and gagged, is to increase their focus on the job! It makes them scaringly efficient!:):)
