They poured enough J-7 into it so it could take off and heat up enough to seal its tanks before refueling. I was lucky enough to see one take off from Edmonds Air Force Base when I was going to Willow Springs (a car race track in the middle of hell without a willow or spring to be found). I was amazed how small it was and how slow it took off until the pilot rolled the nose up and lit the afterburners... 10 seconds later it was GONE...The leaker.
Built for the pressure of high altitude and supersonic flight.
On the ground it leaked oil and fluid like crazy!
