The Romans are vicious victors. They have no regard she was a queen. They must show she is defeated.

As for her image, that is not all she will pay when she is whipped. The ribs of the column will make her breasts pay as she tries to avoid the lashes of the whip...

Mmmmmm, Yupar shivering at the whipping post - Phlebas looks on with lust sympathy.

I would be happy to see the queen displayed like this for a while, but protocol demands that she feels the kiss of the whip.

Now that they ripped that fine royal dress apart, I sure hope no more perfectly useful articles of clothing will be wasted on a doomed fallen queen.

It would be neither economical or efficient, totally un-Roman

In Latin, "Gratus" means "pleasing" or "thankful".
"Drusus" is a Roman family name. It is believed to have been adopted by a warrior who killed a Gallic chieftain name Drausus, which may come from the Celtic word for strong.
So, one of them is strong, a good asset in a flogger.
The other one is "grateful" for this opportunity; though I doubt Yupar will find him "pleasing".
