Here's a conundrum. What do you when your slave girl is worn out by her early 20s? Sell her at a loss? Put her to work in the kitchens? If you are a respected person of rank in the city the best thing to do is approach the city magistrates with the news that your slave girl has committed a terrible crime - theft, disobedience etc. They will take your word immediately of course and you can offer her to the city for execution and more importantly, public entertainment. Crucifixion in the public arena always goes down well with the mob. they will be forever grateful to you for providing them with such amusements. Ghizlan had married her husband three years previously and although she was fond of him she had more of a taste for his money. If she had lived in New York in the 1920s she would have been a flapper girl. But here she was trying to act and look like a good Muslim wife. She had led her husband to believe that she couldn't reproduce (Although she had two kids before she met Dizwhar) and that was why they needed this pair of slaves to take the labour out of starting a family. Jennifer on the left was now well advanced with her second while Janet was dragging her heels.

Look at your sister..that is how you should be!! My husband tells me that you are good with your mouth and tongue but unwilling to open your legs! Well things are going to change. I'm going to thrash you every day until I get better reports on your performance."

This, too, is a conundrum. Consider a slave without feelings, a lump of mud with pleasant shape, suitable appendages and orifices, but no mind, memory, or nervous system. The whip is not felt nor feared. Constraint is not restraint. Attitude cannot be adjusted. Training is not possible. Bend it, poke it, beat it, squish it. The mud doesn't care.
