No one cares what I feel. No one can help me. And no one wants to. No one will cover my shame. No one will give me a good word or a sip of water. No one will even notice when I die. And no one will sing a sorrow for the crucified slave girl.
There's no doubt about it, Andy.... you understand exactly what it is about crucifixion that floats my boat! :) :very_hot: :clapping::clapping:

Meeting a crucified along the road is clearly a common thing in this society. I also see indifference to her terrible fate, some lustful peeking, and feelings of reprisal (second pic). No feelings of pity or compassion.:clapping:

Yes, I exactly feel the same as Jastrow, Loxuru and Wragg: it was the clue of the crucifixion. If you are dying from cancer you could struggle even longer and the pain could be sometimes unbearable too but you lie in bed, you are cared for, your friends and relatives could visit you, you hear the good wishes and feel somebody's palms on your forehead... On the cross you are cast away from the society, you have no longer family and friends (or they aren't allowed to help you) and you are deprived of all human rights, banished from humanity. Even gods are no longer your protectors because "the one who is hanged on a tree, he is damned by gods" and your soul will never reach the quiet underworld and the river of oblivion because you would not be buried (as the Romans believe). Even if you are absolutely innocent... because no more was needed to crucify you than your master's whim. What a terrible world!

a season ornament in form of a nameless slave girl nailed to the cross.

You are suffering because he wants an ornament. You will die because he wanted an ornament, the party has moved indoors, and you are forgotten.

Loxuru: hay fewer? It's not impossible, however rarely mentioned by the authors! You are right. Think of more: an aching tooth for example. The single hay fever or toothache or headache could make you crazy if you are immobilized. And there is few more common factors, for example insomnia. In normal conditions after some 40-60 hours of forced activity without sleep everybody is near to the kind of delirium, hearing strange voices and seeing monsters. I suppose that this "thousand deaths" you die when crucified is not far from the truth!

"Don't care for her, Diana, my love! When I suggested to the centurion who is responsible for the robbery, they quickly found the stolen gem hidden under the pile of her dresses, (exactly where I put it) and I could divorce her at once. Now I can marry you, my sweetheart. OK, I didn't foresee that they sentenced her to this terrific death, but... at least she will have all the pain in ass she deserved for her stupidity!"

You're in a very productive phase, Andyman. I'm glad to read captions to the images. A significant more-worth.

"One more cow to be slaughtered, few more nails will I hit..."
