Coating a pillory with pepper, hot sauce, athletic icy hot, or Ben Gay ointment may cause some discomfort, but there are better, more efficient substances, like 8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide, first extracted by that unrecognized genius of chemistry, Christian Bucholz (Germans creativity again!)
The product, commonly called “capsaicin,” is the active component of chilli peppers, plants belonging to the genus Capsicum from where the word capsaicin is derived.
A chemical irritant and neurotoxin for humans, it produces a sensation of intense burning in any tissue with which it comes into contact, particularly on soft mucosae.
It is similar in action to the pain toxin of some tarantula species.
A hydrophobic substance, capsaicin is not easily washed off the skin.
So, all in all, it has the requirements for an excellent and prolonged enhancement of the pleasures of Spanish Donkey or similar, especially if some of the newly synthesized chillies are used, for example, the Guinness Book of Record holder “Trinidad Scorpion,” about 300 times hotter than the hottest Jalapeño around.
