There are some members who (for whatever reason) don’t insert their images as thumbnails when posting. I don’t know if this is a deliberate decision (I think someone mentioned they like the fact that, if you don’t insert them as thumbnails, you get a view count which tells you how many times the image has been viewed; this goes away if you insert as thumbnails). Sometimes I suspect people just don’t know HOW to insert as thumbnails.
However, there are at least two advantages to inserting as thumbnails. First, your post will be MUCH prettier, as the pics won’t be smeared out over a wide area like butter over too much bread (Tolkien reference for fellow nerds)..
Secondly, if the pics are inserted as thumbnails, another member can highlight one of the thumbnails and use the “quote” option to respond to that picture; the thumbnail then comes up in their response too, so anyone reading their response knows exactly which pic they’re responding to, without having to click away from their post. In other words, using thumbnails makes it easier for people to respond, adding comments or captions if they want, and means less tedious scrolling past yards of blurry shit.
If you think having a view-counter is such a great advantage that it outweighs all of that, well fine, it’s up to you of course. But you’re wrong
