True, you can only take all the available precautions and hope for the best. I tend to follow issues like this, however, because I try to understand how things work, what it will take for reality to trump politics, etc. I also have the quaint notion that politicians might actually pay attention to my concerns if I present my case with facts, or at least they will put my missive in one of the buckets they use to decide where public opinion is going and how the next election might come out, and maybe my bucket will fill up. I always tell myself that if things go to hell, it won't be because of me.
Do all you can and should, then don't worry about it. I did go to a bar (not crowded) with some (vaccinated) friends tonight.

There is this uncomfortable story, though. It would be nice if certain US Senators would read it.

I suddenly got the feeling, that you are a much more dangerous man than I ever thought: You are lubricating your automatic assault rifles? Plural? :eek:

OK, but anyway, "Omikron" confused the values or benefits of Covid-19-number-statistics (Sorry again, but being German, I like long word combinations somehow!) a lot during the last weeks. Especially we Germans and Austrians tried to keep all numbers very low, but now our friends in Scandinavia or especially Denmark are looking at such numbers much more relaxed because Omikron is not as dangerous as Delta was.
Omikron can make you severely ill for up to 10 days, but it usually does not kill you and so, many of those "Vikings" in Scandinavia are already saying:
"This is now almost like a real 'flu', isn't it? So what? When its worse in my case, well, I will meet all my friends in Asgard's Walhalla after my last battle for a great celebratory banquet at Odin's throne !" (Odin = also: Wodan in other languages)

For comparison, in my German district, the regional government is still proud of having a 7-days-incidence of around 150 or less cases per 100.000 inhabitants.
Some German mayors are near professional panicking, when they have over 500 cases in their cities.

And in Denmark? They have now a 7-days-incidence of 1.950 and rising (!!!) and they are still "relaxed". We Germans would be in panic with such an incidence but those "Vikings" do not care any more ...

Our daily rate seems to maybe be plateauing, hopefully, in NSW, 35,000 yesterday. I discovered why testing numbers are down, they can’t batch test in 100 sample kits (they used to do this and RE test them individually if they got a positive- which was fine when the strike rate was below 0.1% but now all have to be done individually which is why they only manage 115,000 tests per day, compared to quarter of a million during lockdown)

Half my shop has it now

They are stupid, they think that people can't make their own decisions. Many will welcome opening up, but many will not, people will stop going to shops and restaurants etc, and they will not get the wave of economic activity that they were hoping for. I heard plenty of cancelation stories over the Christmas / New Year period. A lot of people don't want to get it, or to kill their granny (sorry Jolly)

Kerry Chant is the Chief Health Officer of NSW, and has served under 7(?) premiers. I think she is finding this current one difficult.

Sometimes, I think, "facts, science and integrity" are not as successful as well done satire. Right now, there is a new German satire with the German version of Dr. Fauci, the most famous German virologist - Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten - of the most famous and almost historical German University Hospital, the "Berliner Charité".


Here, he is in a fictional annual review from about New Years Day 2023 looking back in an interview to the last year 2022. The female reporter asks him and constantly speaks & spells his name wrong:
- "Who are you and why am I talking at all with you? I mean, why did my TV channel want me to do so?"
- "Don't you really know me any more? I am the man who invented this pandemic of 2019 - 2021!"
- "Which pandemic?"
- "Pig's flu ! Oh no, sorry, I sometimes get confused with my inventions. I mean Covid-19!"
- "Oh yes, now I remember! You are this slave of the pharmaceutical mafia, controlled by extra-terrestrial lizard people, the man with psychologically questionable world domination fantasies!"
- "Nooo! I just wanted to make a financially successful podcast on the internet, but after the German government declared a general ban on vaccinations, all enemies of vaccinations said that they don't let any government tell them what to do and they all suddenly wanted to get a vaccination! So, my podcast and I fell into absolute oblivion!"

L, is that a euphemism?

I usually lubricate mine, but sometimes, if I'm in a hurry, or I just can't wait, I'll say, "Heck, I'll warm it up & shoot it without any of that foreplay, uh, I mean preparation."
