 No, and I don't think I shall. Fortunately I'm living in a time-warped corner of the country where chip shops only fry fresh fish in batter and good local tatties. But there are fearsome parts where anything that's already dangerously unhealthy is plunged into the frier to add another wave of heart-blocking lipids to the customer's presumably cast-iron circulatory system.
Sadly, that fried stuff combined with heavy drink contributed to the early demise of an old mate of Mine over there.

Aye, it's the cause of far too many deaths in Scotland. The other curse is drugs. It's a national embarrassment that we're top of the European league for deaths from heart disease and drug-related ones.

At the state fair here they have deep-fried everything, including butter. I did not try it (yuck!), but a friend said it was basically a frozen quarter pound of butter on a stick, breaded and fried very quickly so that the butter was still solid.

I can’t imagine anything much worse.

Here on the continent, we say that, if you want to eat culinary food in the UK, only in Scotland!:hambre:

Speaking of food in Scotland, PBS (public television) here in the US is running an hour long holiday special called “Mary Berry Christmas”. She’s a delight and the food and recipes are amazing!
