#1 is by Jos. A. Smith, versatile mainstream artist and illustrator, but with some good fantasy images, especially witch-themed: this is apparently 'Innocent, I have been tortured'

#2 is by the engraver 'Viset', Luc Lafnet, one of his 4 illustrations for De Sade's 'Léonore et Clémentine ou les Tartufes de L' Inquisition'

#5 is in the State Archives in Poznan. It may illustrate the interrogation of Sydonia von Borck, a famous Pomeranian victim of witchcraft accusations.

How long can she continue to deny she's a witch? Is it just because he's enjoying himself too much (no-one around at 3am in the long robes with bibles to question her)? It's hard to say anything when you are screaming.

Perhaps she'll be more forthcoming when he wakes her up to begin asking again when the questioners arrive in the morning after prayers. He definitely has time to fuck her where she hangs.
