I see shibari as more of an art form than a practical bondage technique. There's definitely a place for it and it can be intensely erotic, but when it comes to real-life bondage / bdsm, I much prefer simpler techniques from which the sub can be released very quickly if things get out of hand.I'm not really a fan of shibari, so I won't venture an opinion about that. While I appreciate the 'artistry' of the ropework, it is a bit of a distraction from the female, to me.
When it comes to bondage, I would be a minimalist I think. Enough to to keep them helpless and quiet works good enough for me.
