A Human and Dark Elf crucified for interspecies relations.

(A series I stared but haven't finished yet, called "The Song")
Part 1:
Alegra was an accomplished singer in the Empire.
Everyone came from far and wide to hear the woman's beautiful voice.
But this attention drew jealousy from the Emperor's wife, who sought to have her own voice be heard.
And so, she had the lovely Alegra framed. She was sentenced to crucifixion.
A crowd was drawn to the execution site, as was to be expected.
Several men dragged the condemned girl up the trunk of the large tree, found an good place and nailed her.
Many in the crowd began to weep for Alegra, while the Empress watch from afar with a smile.
But what came next surprised her.
Alegra pushed herself to a standing position, closed her eyes and began to sing for the crowd.


Hours passed, her position changed, but the song remained constant.I
Alegra's voice never drifted.

Part 2:
Alegra's song was eventually cut off. A familiar voice called out her name as a friendly face rushed up to her.
The approaching woman was Shione, Alegra's best friend and fellow performer.
She had just returned from traveling with the Emperor when news of a condemned individual drew her.
The sight of her friend on the tree upon arriving horrified her.
All she could think is "Why? Why her? What has she done?".

Alegra looked down at her friend with a smile as Shione stared up in shock, reaching for the crucified girl as if to make sure she wasn't dreaming.

Even as nightfall came to pass and the crowd dispersed, Shione refused to leave her friend's side. She laid down upon the grass, eventually finding a decent position in which to sleep.
Alegra moved her body to where she was most comfortable and then she too closed her eyes as she rested her head on her right arm.
