Wonderful story. I'll never be able to watch "Yes, Minister" in quite the same way again...

I noticed the phrase "tin tacks" in the story. I had always heard "brass tacks", which sent me researching. Turns out the latter originated in the US in the 19th century, but is now used in the UK as well.
