Yes, I noticed that too. I saw a documentary on archery, where they said that they now think that many of our current ideas about archery are wrong. The quivver on the back is useless if you want to shoot fast, as is placing the arrow on the left of the bow.

One time I read that the English archers stuck the point of their arrows in the ground by their feet for quick access.
No doubt that might ensure that any wounds would become infected, chemical warfare you might say.

That was the way troops cleaned their cutlery even during the WWs -
there was probably greater immunity to such diseases,

I think cruxlover is potentially closer to the truth. There are plenty of bacteria that are innocuous such as Staphyloccus Aureus that are benign or even a positive when introduced into the human body on the right vector but can turn hideously dangerous if it penetrates into the wrong spaces such as fatty and muscle tissue via wounds. In addition but the digestive tract is a fortified entrance way which makes the kind of vetting someone like Trump wants for his border wall or even Kim Jong-Un's DMZ look positively anaemic by comparison.

The centauresses are interesting. Not sexually, I don't find them the least bit erotic. But, origins of the centaur and the amazon may be linked. Tne ancient Greeks were not a horse riding people, so when the first encountered steppe warriors who practically lived on horseback, they assumed the man and horse were one creature. (Don't laugh. The Aztecs thought the same thing when the first saw mounted Spaniards). Among some of these groups such as the Scythians, the women commonly fought beside the men and even served as leaders. This was so astonishing to the misogynistic Greeks that the created the myth of the Amazons. So, merging centaurs and amazons makes sense.

Though they aren't mentioned in any myths, centuaresses have cropped up in art from time to time.
