One time I read that the English archers stuck the point of their arrows in the ground by their feet for quick access.Yes, I noticed that too. I saw a documentary on archery, where they said that they now think that many of our current ideas about archery are wrong. The quivver on the back is useless if you want to shoot fast, as is placing the arrow on the left of the bow.
Did anyone say the archers had to be human?

No doubt that might ensure that any wounds would become infected, chemical warfare you might say.

there was probably greater immunity to such diseases,
especially among boys who'd grown up on farms etc.
than there is in our ultra-hygienic, plastic-packaged time.
The centauresses are interesting. Not sexually, I don't find them the least bit erotic. But, origins of the centaur and the amazon may be linked. Tne ancient Greeks were not a horse riding people, so when the first encountered steppe warriors who practically lived on horseback, they assumed the man and horse were one creature. (Don't laugh. The Aztecs thought the same thing when the first saw mounted Spaniards). Among some of these groups such as the Scythians, the women commonly fought beside the men and even served as leaders. This was so astonishing to the misogynistic Greeks that the created the myth of the Amazons. So, merging centaurs and amazons makes sense.Did anyone say the archers had to be human?

Even so, her form is otherwise pretty good (and her archery stance isn't bad either).View attachment 596982She couldn't possibly be taking careful aim with her mouth wide open like that ....
