The 2nd is intriguing with her stance because she looks like she is ready for a hunt but what is she hunting? The 6th one is a pleasurable sight with the elf being the archer

We already had a discussion about this and it was concluded that it's a legend ... but, are the Amazons were not a legend too ?

it comes from the idea that in Greek Amazōn is 'a-mazōn' 'without a breast'
(though that's not quite grammatically correct)
Like the Greek heroes, they're more or less legendary,
though having something in common with people the Greeks regarded as exotic -
in the case of the Amazons, the Scythian nomads whose women were as much warriors as the men
(but probably didn't bother with mastectomy).

Actually the legend was 'burned off' and having caught a nipple in a bowstring (YES I was shooting topless) I can understand the temptation!

However, there are multiple techniques for shooting a bow many of which are done without tits getting in the way, we're just hung up on the Victorian version of archery. Which it looks like at least some Greeks used too.

Other problems suggest themselves, too. Standing around mostly naked in stagnant water invites schistosomiasis, for example. Snails aren't as harmless as they look.

If the Amazons were based on Scythian women warriors, they were using the recurved composite bow.

These are short but powerful and are drawn back the length of the outstretched arm.

This isn't far enough for the breast to get in the way.

The Greeks used a longer wooden bow,

that would require drawing the string back to the chest.

More likely they were using composite horse bows (and there is a difference as I own both types) which are also pulled only arms length and seldom shot from the vertical (really hard from horseback). Sp there would be no need for them to loss a boob to be able to shoot.

What I was using at the time was a Welsh self longbow which is pulled back to the ear. Made the mistake of moving my left shoulder towards my right and put the nipple right in the way of the string.

Let's just say the welt was impressive and didn't go away for about 3 days.
