About The Most On Line I've Seen And Nobody's Talking

Go to CruxDreams.com
Perhaps because the most of people are coming here to see, not to participate, Tree...
And those who contribute are a few .....tired...????;)

I think there are many problems.
Some can be solved, some not.
(note: I am listing the "problems" only, leaving out the many good things!.. just for the book)

Here what comes to my mind:
- Females generally less participating because, from all what I have got to know by now, they are flooded by unsolicited PM contact requests by lonely male souls and not asked-for histories of life, to the level of loosing the fun in this place! Needs and also could be addressed imho.

- The level of many discussions is rather shallow.

- There is no easy way to filter "chat" from "contribution", for example in story threads

- I don't see moderation happening in terms of "splitting threads that are generating a side branch". This is a must have in a forum, imho, because it greatly increases the ability for members to focus on content that is interesting for the individual.

I spend quite a lot time online, but I don't manage to read it all!
Partially because there are many great stories that take a lot of time to read, partially because I do have intense PM contact to a few members and other factors
Partially because the "signal / noise" ratio over all is not all that good.

It's not that the stuff that interests me would take too much time, but the fact that I have to read it all, to filter out the "jewels".

Do I think a chat would solve all that?
Probably not, because a good part of the chat happens in its context in a thread and cannot be moved away from there.
But there is other content that has a character of a one time exchange of no lasting general interest that could go there.

It would help if posts could be marked as "OT" (by the writer himself / moderators and / or thread starter and/or public vote ) and if a filter would allow to show/hide them. I don't know if such a plug-in exists for Xenforo.
A similar thing would be achieved by a "comment" functionality, to offer a variant.
This would be particularly helpful in stories threads.
But it would help on other artist threads as well, because it makes the many redundant "archive threads" unnecessary imho.

The "nobody contributing" part can only be solved by content that pulls people in.
Stories are read-only apart from reader comments (that are however disturbing the read if time is limited). We have many great stories here.

We have picture threads that are "read only" as well, for most of the members.

We do have some joking that involves always the same few people and apart from that we do have very very few discussions on a higher level (emotions / wishes / experiences) that do have the potential to have everybody participating.

"Many people online" does tell as little as the ">10'000 members" does.
If all members that "never made a single post and didn't visit for >1 year" were purged from the database, I wouldn't be sure if we had a high 4 digit number of members left. (This would be a good idea anyway, because those people don't return, if they return they will not know their password any more and even if they did, re-registering is easy).

The typical "member" finds this place in quest of porn, registers to see all the pictures, surfs around a bit and is gone again after one or a few visits.

Others return but see this site as read-only source for inspiration - what is fine.

For a good part crux is "pure fantasy", they are not interested in emotions / how to / general BDSM discussions and therefore won't participate much.

Others would be interested in such discussions... but are tired for various reasons...

So, no simple response...

I think it's a good view of the forum....
For me, I'ld situate myself in the last part of this description...
Yes, I could be interested by such discussions, I've tried to impulse them in
a thread that I'd opened, but the result wasn't very convincing...
I was asking for women's participations and only two or three were coming...
If this thread have continued some times, it was because I was the only
woman impulsing questions or problems...
So, you're right, Fantasmo: I'm a few tired !

Unfortunatly, I'm obliged to note that I can have serious discussions
only in PM and , sure, it's not easy, in these conditions, to contribute
in the same time into the forum...
And when, extra, you're sollicited to be an "hero" of some stories (I'm not
against this fact, I like to live my fantasies!) or , as I like, to write my own
stories, it's difficult to be not tired!......:(

It was some thoughts that I leave here to say my tiredness...
Thanks for your attention.....

????? I know, Tree, you'll tell me that I've only to take my fantasy and have fun....;)...and you'll be right! I like!
But.......I"ll also wish can have discussions about these fantasies, others than
some jokes, surely funny, but not sufficient for me:
is't asking for the "Moon"?:D
PM are certainly interesting, but it could be profitable that we could do it on the forum, no?
But, perhaps I'm asking for the "moon".....

I think we should look at how to do 'joke free' or 'serious thoughts only' threads

I think Messa is thinking broader audience than that so any one could participate but with the understanding it doesn't disolve into aimless banter (that Tree has been known to participate in).

I could be wrong

Tree participate in aimless banter?......never heard of such a thing!. If people wish to start a serious thread then why not state at the beginning "Serious replies only" then any moderator would feel free to remove posts which are not relevant or simply point scoring.
